Marryat Plus Be In Control.
What distinguishes this fly reel from most others? It has a special Dual
Mode function. Here’s what’s extraordinary about it: By
squeezing the handle you can switch from Anti-Reverse to Direct
Drive! This means in practice: In Anti-Reverse mode the fish can be
taking line without your having to withdraw your hand from the
reel(protecting your knuckles). However if you want to force in the
fish during the final stage or just want to hold it, then you can do
this as well: Simply with thumb and index finger you squeeze the
handle a little harder to activate the switch and the “Marryat
Plus” is immediately put in Direct Drive.
Depending on how hard you squeeze the handle, you can vary the drag force
even during the fight and therefore,
truly speaking, control the fighting fish with the tip
of your fingers! This change-over is made possible
thanks to the new “Marryat Online Drag Technology” and
obviously this technique together with the unique drag will
establish itself in the fly fishing world,
especially when fishing for strong and fast fish
(Salmon, Steelhead, Bone, Tarpon, Striper)
Despite this technical innovation, the “Marryat Plus” is very
light weight - and is for lines 8 to 10 - weighing only 6 ¾ oz
(191g). The backing capacity is more than enough, 165 to 225 yds
(150 to 200 meters) depending on the type of fly line. For example
with a WF 9 F you can add 200 yds (180 meters) backing.
The additional features of this “Swiss Made” reel are impressive:
Changing the spool and changing from right to left hand retrieve is
extremely easy; the maintenance free aluminium fly reel (“bar
stock”) is hard anodised and especially developed for saltwater
use - and is good looking as well…
