SOLID - Acrylic solid plug that mimics baby squid Mebapen Solid is a downsized Mebapen with solid body (35mm), which was developed in response to a strong request by local anglers in Setouchi Area. Unlike ABS molded plugs, it is made of Acrylic material of which refractive effect and transparency reproduce the larva of baby squid the instant it is cast in the water. ● The situations for use Mebapen series was created by Mebaru freaks’ demand. Mebapen•Mebaru (floating) is suitable for use in early spring (from March) when baby squids float on the water surface, while Mebapen•Hotaru (sinking), which can make a long cast throughout the season, enables you to search wide areas and attack the areas around weeds easily. However, it is very difficult to catch in January and February when there are few bait fish like young sardine, etc. During this period, mysid (shrimp) and thumb nail sized larva of baby squid are considered as main baits. Generally, the fish feeding on baby squid swarms the water surface in early spring when baby squid grows to the size of Mebapen•Mebaru. The baby squid at larva stage, however, is still very small, unnoticeable, and is floating on the water like mysid (shrimp). Under the situations, an even smaller, slow sinking, downsized Mebapen was required, which can attack the areas just below the water surface to the bottom. The larva of baby squid is extremely clear. In developing such a model, it was very important to reproduce the clearness of the larva of baby squid. This led us to use acrylic solid material and the model we completed Is Mebapen Solid. ● Features Super realistic body shape, which was downsized based on Mebapen. Acrylic solid material produces excellent transparency and unique refraction effect, reproducing the larva of baby squid. To make the best use of transparency of the full body, we omitted even the name print. The exceptionally stable casting distance unimaginable from the 35mm, 2.1g body is due to specific gravity balance which is produced by a solid body without built-in weight, and the body shape. The retrieve after splashdown makes the lure swimming with wide wobbling. Falling action is horizontal. For best results, it is recommended to mix “stop” actions, like stop & go at the time of retrieving and lift & fall by rod manipulation. Whether to use free fall or tension fall at the time of falling can make different lure actions
